Carmen Pascarella, CPC – President

Carmen has 20 years in health care management in various roles of medium to large multi-specialty groups.  Most recently, he served as CFO to a large multi-specialty group for the past 7 years where he helped create a seamless and virtually paperless medical billing system, while bringing the practice to a profitable status.   Carmen’s expertise includes medical billing management, purchasing, third party contract negotiations and overall practice financial management.

Throughout his career, he has focused on creating flexible, high performance environments that deliver lower costs while improving productivity, quality, staff morale and customer satisfaction. Carmen is an expert in deploying technology and management resources to support medical practices that thrive even in today’s challenging conditions. He holds an accounting degree from Bentley University and is a Certified Professional Coder through the AAPC.

John Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer

Before joining CPa Medical Billing in 2012, John founded Leisure Tours International (LTI) straight from his Bentley University dorm room and grew it to become a successful online travel company operating tours for college students across the USA, Mexico and Caribbean. After selling LTI in 2005 to TUI Travel, Plc (LON:TT.L), he enjoyed a new role as director of the largest leisure student travel company in North America, derived from an aggressive roll-up of 6 student travel companies in less than 15 months. John left TUI in 2008 to relocate from Boston to Connecticut, take a trip around the world and pursue new ventures such as angel investing, real estate development and consulting.

John is a life-long entrepreneur. He loves brainstorming with other passionate entrepreneurs and evaluating new business opportunities. His hobbies include travel, golf, fishing, boating, fitness, attending sporting events and enjoying the great outdoors. He holds an Economics-Finance degree from Bentley University as well as completion of an Executive Development program at INSEAD University in France.

Dorothy Smith,LPN,CCA, Director of Operations

Dorothy has worked in healthcare for over 30 years. She has a strong clinical and non-clinical background including but not limited to Nursing, Financial Management, Billing & Coding, Revenue Cycle Management, Healthcare Compliance and Medical Information Technologies (MIT) including EHR/ EMR systems. Throughout her career Dorothy has managed staff in multi-specialty FQHC clinics, physician offices with over 50 physicians, with more than 15 sites/ locations. Dorothy managed financial operations for 3 different Community Healthcare Practices (FQHC), a Hospital and Physician offices.   Dorothy’s expertise is in facilitating the strategic planning process & continuous quality improvement projects, budgeting and forecasting with monthly global financial reporting, quality improvement projects, clinical outcomes reporting and UDS reporting.

Dorothy is a member of American Association of Medical Audit Specialist (AAMAS), American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC), American Nursing Association (ANA) and has served on a number of boards as well as a Member of A Compliance Committee, Performance Improvement Committee, Advisory Board Member for Branford Hall Career Institute, Advisory Board Member for Century Collection Agency.

Maureen Onofrio, Manager Billing Accounts

Maureen has worked in healthcare for the past 25 years. She is proficient with several major software systems and her skill set includes system implementation, contract adherence, data analysis, and all aspects of medical billing. Over the course of her career she has held positions as Claims Analyst, Patient Account Specialist, Data/Reporting Analyst and Medical Billing Manager.

Carrie Hart, Manager Billing Accounts

Carrie has worked as a billing manager in Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers over the last 15 years. Carrie’s expertise includes Third Party Billing, Medicare and Medicaid billing, Insurance contracting and credentialing and coding and compliance. Other areas of expertise comes in educating others on state and federal regulations as it pertains to the FQHC environment. Carrie is a Certified Professional Coder with the AAPC and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Sacred Heart University and a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from Southern CT State University. Carrie enjoys singing and theatre as well as spending time on nights and weekends with her husband and two daughters traveling in and out of state to volleyball and softball tournaments.

Peter Correnty, Manager Billing Accounts

Peter has 34 years experience in healthcare technology and revenue cycle management. His background includes hospital and EHR software implementation, billing management, compliancy, contracting and data analysis. Over the course of his career, he has held positions as an Actuarial Assistant, Systems and Data Analyst, Business Systems Manager, Director of IT and Director of Billing at Third Party Billing companies, the Travelers Insurance Group and Yale University Health Services. In 2005, Peter became a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician in New Haven, CT and has instructed at Gateway Community College. Peter received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Biology from Trinity College.

Heather McEvoy, Manager Billing Accounts

Heather has over 8 years of experience as a billing account manager. Her expertise is in billing and coding for Ophthalmology practices. She is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators and has attended many nationally held annual meetings. Heather has experience with several software systems and was instrumental in implementing a new EHR at a practice with successful attestation of Meaningful Use. Throughout her career, Heather has enjoyed working in different positions within the ophthalmology revenue cycle.
