Carmen Pascarella – CEO/President

Carmen has 20 years in health care management in various roles of medium to large multi-specialty groups. Most recently, he served as CFO to a large multi-specialty group for the past 7 years where he helped create a seamless and virtually paperless medical billing system, while bringing the practice to a profitable status. Carmen’s expertise includes medical billing management, purchasing, third party contract negotiations and overall practice financial management.

Throughout his career, he has focused on creating flexible, high performance environments that deliver lower costs while improving productivity, quality, staff morale and customer satisfaction. Carmen is an expert in deploying technology and management resources to support medical practices that thrive even in today’s challenging conditions. He holds an accounting degree from Bentley University and was a Certified Professional Coder through the AAPC.

Dorothy Smith, LPN, CCA, Director of Operations

Dorothy has worked in healthcare for over 30 years. She has a strong clinical and non-clinical background including but not limited to Nursing, Financial Management, Billing & Coding, Revenue Cycle Management, Healthcare Compliance and Medical Information Technologies (MIT) including EHR/ EMR systems. Throughout her career Dorothy has managed staff in multi-specialty FQHC clinics, physician offices with over 50 physicians, with more than 15 sites/ locations. Dorothy managed financial operations for 3 different Community Healthcare Practices (FQHC), a Hospital and Physician offices. Dorothy’s expertise is in facilitating the strategic planning process & continuous quality improvement projects, budgeting and forecasting with monthly global financial reporting, quality improvement projects, clinical outcomes reporting and UDS reporting.

Dorothy is a member of American Association of Medical Audit Specialist (AAMAS), American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC), American Nursing Association (ANA) and has served on a number of boards as well as a Member of A Compliance Committee, Performance Improvement Committee, Advisory Board Member for Branford Hall Career Institute, Advisory Board Member for Century Collection Agency.

John Sullivan, Director – Business Development

John joined CPa Medical Billing in 2013 and held the position of COO for 6 years until shifting to a business development role to accelerate business growth and partnerships. While COO, John focused on establishing the business infrastructure, as the company transformed from no employees to over 55 employees and from providing billing services from 30 providers to over 700 providers.

John is a life-long entrepreneur. Prior to CPaMB, founding Leisure Tours International (LTI) in 1993 and growing it to become a successful online travel company operating tours for college students across the USA, Mexico and Caribbean. John sold LTI in 2005 to TUI Travel, Plc. His hobbies include real estate, travel, golf, fishing, boating, fitness, attending sporting events and enjoying the great outdoors. He holds an Economics-Finance degree from Bentley University as well as completion of an Executive Development program at INSEAD University in France.

Zhanna Berkovskaya, Billing Accounts Manager

Zhanna has over 13 years of medical billing experience across multiple states with various specialties such as FQHC's, Dentistry, Family Care, Podiatry, and Urgent Care. Zhanna also has over 7 years of management experience, most recently with eClinicalWorks (eCW), as well as Athena and Docutap, where she spent significant efforts with training new clinics and their staff on implementing best practice workflows within their system.

Shannon Gallant, Billing Accounts Manager

Shannon joined CPa Medical Billing in 2018, bringing more than 15 years of medical billing and revenue cycle experience to the company. Focusing efforts on multiple specialties, Shannon has experience with Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, and Podiatry serving practices located across California, Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. Shannon's experience encompasses various practice management systems, including Centricity Practice Solutions and EPIC. Shannon holds an undergraduate degree in Health Care Management from Columbia College and is actively pursuing her graduate degree in Health Care Management with an emphasis in leadership at Albertus Magnus.

Yolymar Herrera, Credentialing Manager

Yolymar joined CPa Medical Billing with over 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, mostly focused on FQHC’s. Yolymar’s knowledge includes registration, financial counselling, billing, HR, compliance, and credentialing. Yolymar has worked with a variety of provider types including behavioral health, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and dental. 

Elsie Juarbe, Billing Accounts Manager

Elsie has over 14 years of experience working in the Healthcare Industry. Elsie has specialized in FQHC Revenue Cycle Management. Elsie’s knowledge/experience includes scheduling, pre-registration, patient registration, billing, follow up and collections. Elsie has worked with multi patient types from Behavior Health, Pediatrics, Adult Medicine, Family Medicine, In-patient Medical(Adult & Pediatric) and Dental. Elsie has worked with several different Practice Management Systems including Sage Intergy Advanced Data System, Epic, Centricity and Dentrix.

Heather McEvoy, Billing Accounts Manager

Heather has over 8 years of experience as a billing account manager. Her expertise is in billing and coding for Ophthalmology practices. She is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators and has attended many nationally held annual meetings. Heather has experience with several software systems and was instrumental in implementing a new EHR at a practice with successful attestation of Meaningful Use. Throughout her career, Heather has enjoyed working in different positions within the ophthalmology revenue cycle.

Chris Nacinovich, Billing Accounts Manager

Chris joined CPa Medical Billing in 2019. He has over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare industry, including multiple areas of Revenue Cycle. Chris has worked for large multispecialty practices inclusive of Cardiology, Endocrinology, Family Practice, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Otolaryngology, Podiatry, and Rheumatology. Chris’s experience includes scheduling, registration, coding/scrubbing, charge posting, billing, accounts receivable, collections, customer service, and reporting/analysis. He has worked in multiple practice management systems, including Greenway Intergy and EPIC. Chris is a Certified Professional Coder through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications with a focus on Public Relations from FIT in New York.

Kris Ryan, Human Resources Manager

Kris joins CPa Medical Billing with 15 years of Human Resources experience. She has worked in HR roles in academic, healthcare and biotech settings. Her expertise includes management coaching and development, policy development, HR compliance, employee relations, training and development, performance management and talent acquisition. Kris is adept at assessing employee strengths and opportunities for development and creating sound plans for improving processes and outcomes. Kris provides managers with sound advice and coaches them on implementing best practices across the HR spectrum. She earned her BS from Curry College and is an active member of the Madison Rotary Club.

Tracy Scaniffe, Billing Accounts Manager

Tracy Scaniffe joined CPa Medical Billing in 2019 and held the position as billing specialist until she was hired into the role of Billing Accounts Manager. Tracy has over 30 years revenue cycle experience and previously held the role as Director of Revenue Cycle for a Connecticut based hospital. In addition to hospital experience, she has a vast knowledge of outpatient hospital, skilled nursing, long term care, independent care, boarding home, home care, hospice care and assisted living services.

Tracy was instrumental migrating over to new hospital & skilled nursing based EHR’s simultaneously while maintaining cash flow to meet financial objectives. In addition, she chaired ICD10 and Employee Engagement Committees and was an active member of the Corp Compliance Committee.

Nicole Supik, Dental Billing Accounts Manager

Nicole has over 10 years of experience working in the Dental Industry. She specialized in general dentistry, pediatric, periodontal and orthodontics. Nicole’s knowledge/experience includes dental coding, treatment coordinating, billing, follow up, credentialing and collections. She has worked dental in multiple states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Florida and New Jersey. Nicole has worked with several different dental Practice Management Systems including Epic, Centricity, Dentrix, DSN, Easy Dental, Softdent, Eagle Soft and Open Dental etc.
